Officially sponsored by AZEMAD, Rink hockey will be one of the main sports of the World Roller Games Barcelona 2019. The city will host the Men’s and Women’s World Championship between 7 and 14 July this year.
Along with the World Teams Championship, two other competitions of this sport will also be held as part of the WRG 2019: the Intercontinental Championship and the Challenger Championship. The former will include all male and female categories, whilst the latter will be for men only. These two competitions will also begin on Sunday, the 7th of July, and will end on Saturday, the 13th of July, a day before the World Cup final.
The World Roller Games roller hockey matches will be held in four separate venues: Barcelona, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Sant Cugat del Vallès and Terrassa. The World Championship will be held at the municipal sports hall CEM Isaac Gálvez in Vilanova and Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona. The latter will also host the men’s initial phase, as well as finals for both categories.
The initial round and both quarter-final matches of the women’s World Championship, along with all matches from fifth to eighth place will be held in Vilanova i la Geltrú, in addition to the women’s Intercontinental Championship, where as the men’s World Championship will happen at the CEM Rambla Celler municipal sports complex in Sant Cugat del Vallès. Finally, the venue of the Challenger championship will be the municipal sports center of La Maurina, in Terrassa.
Along with all the senior roller hockey competitions, the World Roller Games Barcelona 2019 will also include the World Championship and Intercontinental Under-19 category, to be held in Vilanova i la Geltrú. There will be only one male category in both cases, to be held in the days prior to WRG 2019, specifically from the 29th of June to the 5th of July.
