Social and ecological responsibility are taken very seriously by the company, and therefore deep rooted to the company's vision and values. The 5th of June is World Environment Day, but the company contributes positively to the environment in a daily basis, by putting in action measures that build a sustainable future, which has been the case since its foundation in 1966.
Wood is the primary raw material for Luxury Furniture and Hospitality Furniture (Contract), as well as for Rink Hockey Sticks (Sport), beside several other technical components. That said, there's the upmost care in selecting wood from sustainably certified forests (FSC - Forest Stewardship Council), thus making that all important environmental contribution towards native forests preservation.
As well as working with selected certified suppliers, AZEMAD owns three acres of native forest in the factory grounds, which amounts to over a thousand trees, 700 hundred of which planted as a company initiative, in order to create a woodland “laboratory”, which includes oak, cherry, and walnut trees, and ultimately aims to encompass the connection with the environment.
Aware of its own environmental responsibility, always focusing on renewable energy, the company has a photovoltaic production system of 115kW for self-consumption, with a total of 420 installed solar panels, in order to significantly reduce its ecological footprint in energy consumption. AZEMAD also has a privately own Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) for wastewater treatment, reusing the water used and thus avoiding unnecessary waste.
Aside from all the environmental measures, as well as internal company good practices norms, a plastics ban policy has been implemented, in an effort in bringing down to zero all of its consumption, resorting to carefully designed recyclable carton, as a mean for all product packing.
Thus, AZEMAD's vision always bears in mind its environmental responsibility, being unanimously considered as a reference company and a model to follow, building and focusing its future in an ecological and sustainable way. Happy World Environment Day 🌱
